Where Our Chemistry Works

From the drill bit to the refinery gate.

Wherever a well is drilled, the same chemistry decides whether it pays.

A cement job is only as good as what goes into it. Retarders that keep the slurry pumpable to the last foot of a hot annulus. Dispersants that displace the mud instead of channelling past it. Expanding agents and elastomers that hold the sheath tight against the pipe for thirty years of pressure cycles.

Then the reservoir is opened. Acid inhibited to bottom-hole temperature. Iron held in solution. Non-emulsifiers so the returns come back as clean fluid, not sludge. Gels that carry proppant to the fracture tip and break clean behind it.

And then the long years — scale, corrosion, wax and H₂S, held back season after season, well after the rig has gone.

Three complete lines. Over five hundred products, formulated for Gulf conditions, in licensed stock in Jebel Ali, and tested in our own Dubai laboratory against your brine and your crude before the first litre ships.

Down the hole

Every barrier, every treatment, in one section.

Keep scrolling to travel from the derrick down to the reservoir — the ground opens, the casing dissolves, and each stage names the chemistry that makes it work. Whenever the turn mark shows in the corner, you can drag sideways to turn the well and follow the oil downstream to the plant.

Where We Operate

Offices and stock across three continents. Operations across the Middle East, Central Asia and Asia-Pacific.

Product held close to the field, and a technical team within reach of the well.

What we can run for you.

Our EIAC accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025:2017, Certificate No. LB-TEST-283) currently covers third-party certified testing for corrosiveness to copper (ASTM D130), pH of water (ASTM D1293), and density/relative density/API gravity (ASTM D1298) — more methods are being added to this scope over time. Every test in the catalogue below is run to the relevant industry (API/ASTM/NACE) or NOC-approved standard regardless of accreditation status; accreditation only matters when you need a certified, invoiceable third-party result rather than in-house or operator-standard testing. Test requests are arranged through your Aquaness sales contact, who will confirm sample volume, conditions to be simulated and reporting format.

Four ways the laboratory works for you.

Laboratory support is part of the technical service around our products — and available as a paid service where the work sits outside a supply relationship.

Fluid Compatibility

Tested against your fluids before it reaches the well.

A treatment that works on paper can still fail against a particular brine, crude or completion fluid. Compatibility screening is run on the fluids your well actually produces and injects, so incompatibility is found in the laboratory rather than in the annulus.

Brine and crude

Your produced water and crude, at the conditions the treatment will meet.

Additive on additive

Products checked against each other, so a blended treatment behaves as one fluid.

Reported clearly

A written result your engineers can put in the job file.

Performance Validation

Proof at your conditions, not at catalogue conditions.

Corrosion, scale and emulsion performance all move with temperature, pressure, salinity and time. Validation puts the candidate through conditions representative of your facility, so the number in the report belongs to your well.

Corrosion

Inhibitor performance at the temperature and acid strength you will pump.

Scale and emulsion

Behaviour against your water chemistry and produced fluids.

Repeatable

Run to industry or operator-approved standards, so results can be compared.

Custom Formulation

When nothing in the range fits, we build it.

Our formulation chemists develop bespoke products against your reservoir data and operating envelope — and the same team that develops a formulation quality-tests every batch of it we release, so what is proven in development is what arrives on site.

From your data

Reservoir, fluid and operating limits define the brief.

Developed in-house

Formulated and blended by Aquaness, not sub-contracted.

Carried into supply

A new formulation enters the range with its own batch quality regime.

Product Selection

Your crude decides which chemical is right.

With over four hundred production formulations, choosing is the work. A single crude may be screened against two hundred candidates or more before one is recommended, and the laboratory shortlist is confirmed on your facility before it becomes a supply.

Your own fluid

Recommendations are made against your sample, never a generic stand-in.

Ranked side by side

Candidates compared against each other, so the shortlist is evidence.

Confirmed in the field

Validated on the plant, with the dosage set there.

Cairo, Egypt

The Team

Chemists who have worked the wells.

Testing is run by formulation chemists and laboratory technicians working alongside the field engineers who specify the treatments — so a result is interpreted against operating reality, not just a datasheet limit.

FAQ

Common Questions

What is the minimum storage period?+
There is no minimum storage period for spot storage. For contract storage, a minimum of 3 months applies. Flexible short-term arrangements are available for project-based or campaign-based requirements.
What SDS documentation is required on arrival?+
A valid Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliant with GHS / UAE regulations must accompany every shipment received at our facility. For DG products, a UN packing certificate and transport emergency card (TREM card) are also required. Products arriving without an SDS will be quarantined pending documentation.
How are incompatible chemicals segregated?+
Our facility is divided into segregated zones: Acid Zone (Class 8 corrosives), Flammable Zone (Class 3), and General DG Zone. Segregation strictly follows IMDG Code and Dubai Municipality requirements. Incompatible chemicals are never co-located within the same zone or aisle.
Is temperature monitoring continuous?+
Yes. The DG facility maintains 18–28°C with IoT-based continuous temperature and humidity monitoring. Alerts are triggered at ±2°C from set point. Monthly temperature logs are available to clients on request and are accessible through the online inventory portal.
What are the facility access hours?+
Standard access is Sunday–Thursday, 08:00–17:00 GST. Emergency dispatch outside these hours can be arranged with 4 hours notice for critical rig-site requirements. All visitors and vehicles require pre-registration and DG entry permits.
Can you handle customs clearance and import documentation?+
Yes, Aquaness works with approved customs brokers for import clearance into the UAE and GCC markets. We prepare all DG import notifications, Material Safety Data Sheet submissions to Dubai Municipality, and coordinate with Civil Defense for pre-approval of new chemical arrivals.

The library corridor at the Dubai office, shelves lit along both walls
Life in Aquaness

Aquaness is not a unique company. It tries to be a unique place to work.

We sell chemicals, as others do. What we have spent sixteen years building on the inside is a company where knowledge is the currency, and where nobody advances by standing on someone else.

{{ ls.value }}
{{ ls.label }}
01The premise

Anyone can deliver a drum

The molecules are not secret. The plants that make them are known to everyone in this market, and price converges toward the same narrow band whatever the logo on the label.

What does not converge is judgement. A production engineer with a well going sour at two in the morning is not buying a corrosion inhibitor — they are buying the thinking of whoever picks up the phone: whether that person knows the field, remembers the last treatment, and will say “that is the wrong product for this water” to a customer who has already decided.

That judgement is not a marketing asset we acquired. It is the accumulated attention of about forty people, and it survives only in a company that pays for it, refreshes it, and makes room for it to be spoken out loud.

So the internal question is narrower than “culture”. It is this: what kind of workplace makes a person want to understand more than their own role requires — and then makes them comfortable enough to say what they see?

Most of what follows is our answer, and most of it costs money that a purely commercial reading of the accounts would cut. Six hundred books nobody is tested on. Fifteen to twenty training days a year whether or not the quarter allows it. A flight home for every employee, at every grade.

We keep those lines because the alternative — a supplier whose people know only their own catalogue — is a business we would lose, slowly and deservedly, to whoever quotes a dirham less.

We are not going to tell you the offices are beautiful. They are photographed below. Judge them yourself.

02Every office has one
The Aquaness library — lit shelves running down both walls of the corridor, with a reading table between them

There is a library in every one of our offices

Around six hundred books and growing, in English, Arabic, Russian and French — sitting in the corridor people walk down all day, not behind a door marked Resources.

Business and engineering, of course. But also medicine, psychology, technology, history, novels. Whatever people actually read, rather than what a company decides its staff ought to be reading. Titles are suggested by colleagues and bought without a case being made for them.

Borrow anything, take it home, bring it back when you are done. There is no sign-out sheet and nobody to ask.

The library exists because we do not accept that knowledge divides into useful and useless kinds. It is one realm. The chemist who reads history and the accountant who reads physics are not indulging themselves — they are the two people most likely to see a problem from a direction nobody else in the room can reach.

And there is a quieter reason. Most people badly underrate what they already know. The hard part of expertise is rarely acquiring it; it is believing yours is worth offering in front of people who sound more certain. A wall of books in a corridor is a small argument against that, made every day, to everyone who passes.

Visitors notice it before they notice anything else about the office. That was not the intention, but it has turned out to be the most accurate first impression we could have given them.

03Where the day happens

Rooms built to be worked in

The office in Dubai was fitted out once, properly, and has been maintained ever since — because a place that is allowed to fray tells everyone in it exactly how much their day is valued.

The senior management meeting room is where the week is set and where the harder conversations with partners happen. Everywhere else — the lounge, the reading table between the library shelves, the round table in each office — is open to whoever needs it, and used for work at least as often as for coffee. Nobody has ever been asked to justify sitting there.

And a necessary correction to any photograph of a desk: most of the working day here is not spent at one. It is spent in a chemical store, at a laboratory bench, or on a customer's site.

How those places are kept is the most reliable thing we can show you about how the company is run — segregated racking, bunded pallets, eyewash where it should be, batches checked against the manifest. The same standard as the boardroom, applied where it actually costs something.

04Fifteen to twenty days a year

Training is not a reward for good performance

It is how the work gets done. Every colleague spends fifteen to twenty days a year being taught something — technical, commercial or personal — whether or not the calendar makes it convenient.

Much of it runs through our own training institute, ATI, in rooms built for it. The rest we buy in from people who teach it better than we do, because pretending otherwise would be its own kind of arrogance.

Colleagues teach as often as they are taught. Someone who has just come back from a course is expected to run it again for the people who could not go — which is also the fastest way to find out how well they understood it.

The technical side is the part any competent supplier would claim: core-flood results argued over in front of the room, product chemistry taken apart until everyone can defend the recommendation rather than recite it.

The commercial side is where most of the discomfort lives — a sales course that puts people into live role play in front of their colleagues, and a week spent arguing out what the brand actually promises, in marker pen, until the list was one everybody could stand behind.

And then the part that rarely appears in a training budget at all: communication and conflict management, run for the whole company — chemists, drivers, finance, warehouse — because the arguments that damage a business are almost never about chemistry.

Everyone in the same room, learning how to disagree

Effective communication and conflict management, taught to the entire company at once. Not a managers' course: the warehouse supervisor, the accountant and the technical manager did the same exercises, at the same tables, and were marked by the same trainer.

It is the least glamorous training we run and probably the most valuable. A page like this can claim that disagreement is welcome — but people can only disagree well if somebody has shown them how, and if the person across the table has been shown the same thing.

05Health, taken literally

We bring the doctor to the office

A clinic team comes in, sets up in the lounge, and spends the morning on the things that actually shorten careers in this industry: lifestyle-induced chronic disease, blood pressure, diabetes, the weight that arrives quietly during years of desk work and airport food.

Everybody attends — office, laboratory, warehouse. Nobody is asked to take it as leave, make the time up afterwards, or arrange their own appointment in the evening. If a session is running, that is the working day.

The session is deliberately not an HSE briefing. HSE keeps people safe on site; this is about the slower risks, the ones a company usually treats as somebody's private business right up until they become an absence.

Screenings and follow-up run through the clinic directly, so what a colleague discusses with a doctor stays between them. We pay for the visit and hear nothing back — which is the only arrangement under which anybody would be honest in the first place.

It sits alongside the medical cover rather than replacing it. Insurance pays when something has already gone wrong; a doctor in the lounge on a Tuesday is the cheaper half of the same idea.

06How we treat each other

Disagreement is expected, and not punished

If you think a decision is wrong, saying so is the job — not a risk you take.

Workplaces turn poisonous for a reason, and the reason is usually that only one thing is being measured. Where money is the single value, people compete for it in the only way left to them — at each other's expense.

We measure other things as well. That is not sentiment; it is the practical decision that keeps everything below it true.

Nobody's promotion costs someone else theirs
There is no fixed number of good roles to be fought over, so there is nothing to be won by blocking a colleague.
Credit is given by name, in public
Work is attributed to whoever did it, in front of the people whose opinion of them matters.
Nobody is asked to make a colleague look bad
Not in a meeting, not in a report, not quietly to someone senior.
Your manager's job is to remove obstacles
Not to be impressed. If you are stuck, that is their problem to solve with you.
Time off is taken, not negotiated
Leave is yours. You are not asked to explain why you want it.
Ten nationalities, one standard
Where someone is from has never decided what they are paid, what they are trusted with, or what they are called in a meeting.
07Why it pays

Anyone can deliver a drum. What puts us ahead of the other suppliers in this region is knowing what is in it, why it is the right one, and what will happen when it goes downhole.

That is not a line about training budgets. It is the reason a customer rings us at two in the morning rather than the company that quoted a dirham less — and the reason everything on this page is an investment rather than a benefit.

Jebel Ali Free Zone

Your cargo can land in our name.

Aquaness holds a trading licence inside Jebel Ali Free Zone. That means we can appear as consignee on your bill of lading, clear the cargo into the zone, hold it with duty and VAT suspended for as long as you need, and release it — to the UAE market, onward across the GCC, or re-exported — when you say so. One party for the clearance, the warehouse and the chemistry.

You do not have to type your range in. Upload the sheet you already keep it in — Excel or CSV — and we read it and fill the product forms for you.

Everything arrives as a draft for you to check, and you decide whether the sheet fills only your gaps or overwrites what is there. Nothing reaches Aquaness until you submit it.

Give this product a name and it will save itself from then on — you can leave and come back to it whenever you like.

Announcements

This level of detail sits under Advanced access

You're signed in as a Standard Client. Specifications, safety data and full technical detail are held at Advanced level.

Access levels are not a paid tier — every account is free. They exist to route information to the people who need it: Standard suits commercial and purchasing contacts working from product ranges, while Advanced is intended for technical and managerial personnel who work from specifications, safety data and datasheets.
